Ari Dosa / Neeru Dosa

Ari Dosa, which is sometimes called Neeru Dosa, is a popular South Indian treat that is very light and soft. You only need a few simple things to make these rice crepes, which are great for a quick and easy breakfast or snack.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup rice flour
  • 1/4 cup grated coconut
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed

Instructions:

In a mixing bowl, combine the rice flour and grated coconut

Add salt to taste and gradually add water while stirring to form a smooth, thin batter

The batter should be of pouring consistency, similar to buttermilk

Heat a non-stick skillet or dosa pan over medium heat and lightly grease it with oil

Once the skillet is hot, pour a ladleful of the batter onto the center of the pan

Quickly spread it in a circular motion to form a thin, even dosa

Cover the dosa with a lid and cook for about 2 minutes or until the edges start to lift and the surface looks cooked

Carefully remove the dosa from the skillet using a spatula

It should be soft and translucent

Repeat the process with the remaining batter, greasing the skillet lightly before making each dosa

Serve the Ari Dosa or Neeru Dosa hot with your favorite chutney or curry
